June 15th, State of Origin Game 2

These are the photos I took during the second game of the 2005 State of Origin series. The quality of some of these photos is not the greatest because I was pretty far from the field of play.

This is what Telstra Stadium, the main olympic venue for the year 2000, looks like from the outside. The sign in the foreground doens't make sense because I took the photo just as the message was changing. Posted by Hello

This is what a typical Rugby League field looks like. The playing area is 100 meters long with 10 meter try zones on the ends. Each line on the field represents 10 meters of distance. Posted by Hello

This is everyone in the stadium standing to the national anthem, "Advance Australia Fair". Posted by Hello

These people are super supporters of the home team. Posted by Hello

This is typical play in the NRL. Play stops when the person with the ball is tackled. To score a try, a person must be in possession of the ball when it touches the ground in the try zone; there is one on either end of the field. The players in the blue jerseys are the New South Wales Blues and the ones in the maroon are the Queensland Maroons.

During an interruption in play, the NSW team got water from their water carrier, the one in the orange shirt. Posted by Hello

Every so often, the players of both teams form a "human spider", whcih I think is properly called a "scrum". The NSW player with the ball will try to get a member of his team to roll the ball back so that they can play it. Posted by Hello
